Brothers extend form reversal

AFTER a horror start to the season, Park Avenue Brothers A1 women have picked up another win, defeating Frenchville Rovers last Saturday.

Coach Daryn Watson said Brothers drew their first match of the season but then had an eight-match losing streak.

After snapping that streak they have now been undefeated in their last eight matches, with five wins and three draws.

Watson said he was “very pleased” with the win in the “scrappy” game, with a Jodie Hodgson goal the only difference between the teams.

“Hopefully we can keep it up,” he said.

Watson said they hoped to bridge the gap between themselves and second-placed Southside.

The top of the table clash in the other match of the round produced a 1-1 stalemate between Wanderers and Southside United.

Wanderers captain Jodie Dwyer said games between the sides were always close, with both teams having beaten each other this season.

She said both teams had goalscoring opportunities, hitting the post.

Brooke Miller added a “ripper” goal for Wanderers with Southside’s Alex Buckley notching one for her side.

Dwyer said they were wary of the match against PA Brothers, considering the side’s form.

But Watson said they would be missing five of their regular starters from the clash.

Wanderers remain at the top of the table, and will take on the top Gladstone side in the Central Queensland Hockey League final
