Swanettes making a debut splash

SUNDAY might be a recovery day for the men of the Yeppoon Football Club, but for the women it is competition time.

The Swanettes have been the stand-out team of the opening rounds and will be looking to put on a show as this week’s games are at Swan Park.

The club is in the middle of its 30th anniversary celebrations and a win for the Swanettes would cap off the weekend for the highly-successful club.

While club members will be looking over memorabilia from the past 30 years, the Swanettes will be representing the new generation of the sport as they will be playing in the third round of the women’s competition.

Already the Yeppoon girls are proving themselves and after two rounds remain unbeaten.

Last weekend the Swanettes were too strong for the Gladstone team when they met at Rockhampton Cricket Ground and look certain to be one of the competition’s inaugural grand finalists.

Tomorrow the Swanettes face Glenmore and it will be a tough test for the Rockhampton girls as the club has struggled for numbers.

In the other matches at Swan Park, both Panthers and Gladstone will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Brothers’ match against BITS should be the game of the round as both of these sides look capable of success.

Last weekend Brothers battled to a good win over a determined Panthers.

ROUND THREE

11am: Brothers v BITS
