Howard Weier sitting in his Thunder Box that will be for sale at Rocky Swap
HOWARD Weier has finally decided to part with his rustic dunny, fully decked out with redback spiders.
The Rockhampton man loves to use the outhouse to frighten visitors, but has decided it's time for it to find a new owner at this year's Rocky Swap.
“It's got your sawdust box, I've got the tar drum in there, the lot. I've had it for about four years,” Howard says.
“I saw in the paper a bloke collects these. It's funny how some people will collect anything, but that's what it's all about.”
Howard loves to fix things and is known for taking his restorations to the Rockhampton Swap, having only missed one meet in 13 years.
A big supporter of the event, Howard says he is glad to hear the money made on Saturday will go towards the Rotary and All Classic Car Club.
“It's one of the social events of Rocky. You meet a lot of people, I always take my wood stove and I always make scones and a leg of mutton and I like doing that.”
Howard says the swap is the best place if you're looking for something to complete a collection or finish a project.
“You're sure to find what you're looking for,” Howard says.
“Like they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure.”
The Rockhampton Swap is in its 14th year and is the third-largest meet in Australia, expecting almost 1000 traders.
