THUNDERSTORMS are forecast for the Capricornia region this afternoon with falls up to 30mm on the cards.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Mike Marrinan said the heavier falls and thunderstorms were expected later this afternoon and into the evening.
He said a surface trough extending between the southern gulf and western Queensland has combined with an upper level trough to produce a cloud band which is moving east.
Light falls have been recorded west of Blackwater along with “patchy” rain in Capricornia, but Mr Marrinan said this was expected to increase this afternoon.
A strong wind warning is current between St Lawrence and Point Danger (Gold Coast).
Mr Marrinan said the earliest we could expect the return of completely fine weather would be Wednesday afternoon.
