THE Central Queensland town of Blackwater is mourning the death a 55-year-old contract miner who died on a mine site yesterday.
The civil engineer, of Woombye, west of the Sunshine Coast, was one of four when travelling in a vehicle at Westfarmers Curragh coal mine when it crashed and rolled at 10.50am.
The mine ceased operations at 3pm yesterday as a mark of respect and will not recommence operations until 7pm tonight. A spokesman for Curragh said mine management was working closely with Queensland Police, Queensland Mines Inspectorate and Industry Safety and Health Representatives today as they continue their investigations into the cause of the accident. The next of kin of the deceased man was advised late yesterday by police.Top Guns Rodeo (rnd 1) in Rocky
