A GRACEMERE woman yesterday told how she watched a yellow ute chase and run down a man outside her home, leaving him unconscious on the footpath.

The off-duty paramedic said she saw it all from her bedroom window before she raced to the aid of the injured 20-year-old.

“It continued on the wrong side of the road and went up our driveway and went up on the footpath,” she said.

“It seemed to be going very fast and I could hear the car revving in low gear. I could hear them (the alleged driver and the victim) yelling angrily at each other and swearing but could not hear what they were saying.

“As the car made contact, he sat on the bullbar for a few seconds and fell down. The right-hand tyre went over the top and I saw him roll a few times.”

The woman said the ute's driver never slowed down as it left the scene after the incident on the corner of Arlott and Bland streets.

Shane Matthew McPherson is alleged to have been driving the ute at the time of the incident on March 23, 2009.

Yesterday the woman gave evidence during day two of a trial in the Supreme Court at Rockhampton.

McPherson, 21, is charged with attempted murder and acts intending to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has pleaded not guilty.

The court had previously been told that the victim earlier stole McPherson's mini-motorbike from his home and was riding it around Gracemere when first approached by the accused.

McPherson allegedly first knocked the man off the motorbike in another street and later the incident which forms the attempted murder charge took place.

The woman giving evidence yesterday said after she saw the collision she ran to another window in the house to try to get the ute's number plate.

After she was unsuccessful, she told her husband to call an ambulance, grabbed some towels and went outside.

The court also heard evidence from other witnesses yesterday who saw various parts of the incident as well as expert evidence from road crash specialist Sergeant Ray Pimm.

The trial is expected to conclude tomorrow.
