Trombonist slides into Jazz on Quay

CQUniversity musicians put the jazz onto Quay Street for this weekend's big event

FORMER Rockhampton musician Shane Hannan  returned to his home town to be a part of tonight's Jazz on Quay.

The 29-year-old trombone player will bring with him some of the new skills he learnt while visiting America earlier this year.

“I have a passion for jazz music,” Shane said.

“I just went to New York and checked out the jazz scene and did some study over there.”

Shane is playing with the CQUniversity Jazz Orchestra and the CQUniversity Jazz Ensemble.

“I'm just looking forward to playing in front of Rocky people; I haven't played in front of Rocky people before.”

Jazz on Quay will be held on Quay Street along the boardwalk and will begin today at 4pm.

Tickets are available at the gate for $15.

It is a licensed event and some bars will be set up along the street.
