Boat propeller injures woman on GKI

A WOMAN with a large laceration to her lower leg had to be evacuated from Great Keppel Island on Saturday morning.

The woman was injured by a boat propeller about 9.30am and needed medical treatment.

An ambulance spokesman said the woman was standing too close to a boat.

The Yeppoon Coast Guard, with a paramedic on board, was sent by the ambulance service to pick up the woman from Fisherman’s Beach.

The paramedic treated the woman and she was taken to Rockhampton Hospital by an awaiting ambulance vehicle in Yeppoon.
