When he’s not busy crunching numbers at work, CQ Capras player Tim Glasby is delivering crunching performances on the footy field.

FROM crunching numbers in the workplace to crunching tackles on the footy field, Rockhampton's Tim Glasby loves a challenge.

The future looks bright for the popular rugby league player who is in the latter stages of his financial planning degree and works at Kennas Financial Services.

Tim, 22, has enjoyed returning to the training field at a club pushing in a bold new direction.

Arguably the Comets' best player last season, Glasby supports the club's name change, back to the Capras.

"I can remember going down to watch the Capras play as a junior," Glasby said yesterday.

"There was always a pretty decent crowd and good atmosphere. My favourite players were big Andrew Dale and Graham White.

"It means a lot to be able to play and represent this region at the highest level that's here."

Interestingly, the side White played in was coached by new Capras' mentor, John Harbin.

Glasby said he was enjoying the training environment under the experienced coach.

"There's a good vibe about the place," said Glasby, who played lower-grade footy with the Penrith Panthers before coming back to CQ. "We're all enjoying it ... the training is different.

"There was nothing wrong with what we were doing, but this is a fresh change."

Reluctant to make rash promises about what Capras' fans can expect from him or the side next year, Glasby said he and his team-mates were focused on doing the small things right.

"I want to concentrate on my game and improve," said the big prop, who scored 10 tries in 2011.

"You always look at footy from a personal and team perspective.

"As a team last year it was disappointing."

Harbin said the players were moving into the next phase of pre-season training with the intensity levels stepping up.

He said numbers were strong with players trialling from across the region's clubs.

A session was also held in Gladstone recently, which was well-attended.
