THE Central Highlands certainly haven't been spared, as regions across Queensland were put on alert for flooding.

In Alpha floodwaters inundated shops and homes over the weekend, as the Burdekin River hit major flood levels at Alpha Ck.

Rolleston was still cut off from Springsure yesterday and the Comet River flood level at Comet Weir was expected to reach at least moderate in the next few days.

Emerald residents also continue to face flood fears, with water at the Fairbairn Dam's spillway expected to peak at 2.5 metres on Tuesday.

The Central Highlands Regional Council yesterday confirmed the John Gay Bridge was still closed and predicted a peak of 12.3m at the Vince Lester Bridge late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for the council said at these levels, there was no threat to Emerald homes.

Selma Rd residents are still cut off from town and Theresa Ck at the Gregory Hwy was yesterday expected to peak, with no impact on the road.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast for the Central Highlands this week.

The council urged residents to regularly check their website, www.centralhighlands.qld.gov.au, for updated information on flooding and road closures.
