DYLAN Lui Tiaaleaiga may have put his foot in it when he allegedly robbed the Kalka Palms Hotel Motel armed with a machete.

Rockhampton police said CCTV footage of his shoes gave him away.

The 18-year-old made an application for bail when he appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday charged with entering premises to commit an indictable offence and armed robbery.

Tiaaleaiga allegedly threatened staff of the Lakes Creek Rd business and demanded cash late on Wednesday night.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Joe Aboud said Tiaaleaiga fled with $2390 from the office and adjoining bottle shop.

It was alleged he was picked up by Daniel Barr, 19, in a "getaway" vehicle.

Police arrested Barr for his alleged part in the robbery and he made an application for bail when he appeared in court yesterday.

Neither men entered pleas.

Sgt Aboud said police discovered texts implicating Tiaaleaiga in the robbery at a house when they executed a search warrant.

He said Tiaaleaiga had been involved in five similar offences, three in Queensland and two in New South Wales.

Magistrate Tom Bradshaw remanded Tiaaleaiga in custody, but Barr was granted bail. Mr Bradshaw ordered Barr have no contact with his alleged co-offender, stay at his Norman Gardens home and report to police every Monday and Friday.

He warned Barr that his bail would be revoked if he did not follow the conditions set and said Barr would "be locked up".

"You can go to jail for this," he said.
