Tags: anna bligh, bill byrne, queensland parliament, robert schwarten

ROCKHAMPTON MP Robert Schwarten will miss his last Queensland parliamentary sitting set for the end of this week.

Mr Schwarten was flown to a Brisbane hospital by air ambulance on February 1 after suffering a serious attack of ulcerative colitis.

He underwent surgery and was released from hospital on Friday.

Mr Schwarten said he was due to fly back to Rockhampton tomorrow and had been advised by doctors he would not be able to attend parliament this week.

The Queensland Parliament will sit for the final time under the current members from Wednesday to Friday, with Premier Anna Bligh set to see the Governor on Sunday to ask for parliament to be dissolved and issue writs for the March 24 election.

Mr Schwarten is retiring from Queensland politics with Labor's Bill Byrne selected to run for the Rockhampton seat in the upcoming election.
