UPDATE 1pm: MACKAY Police have identified the truck driver who died in this morning's two-truck crash on the Bruce Highway at Ilbilbie as a 31-year-old Brisbane man.
Police said the driver of the other truck is a 53-year-old man from Boyne Island.
Police said the accident occurred when one of the dual trailers of the 53-year-old's truck jack-knifed and the truck the Brisbane man was driving ran into it.
The highway will remain closed until 4pm, police said.
Investigations into the accident are still continuing.
Please note the below changes to the traffic diversions on the Bruce Highway around the crash at Ilbilbie:
Southbound traffic needs to turn off the Bruce Hwy at Sarina and take the Sarina Range Road following all the way to Marlborough (old Bruce Highway) where it again meets the Bruce Highway.
Northbound traffic needs to turn off the Bruce Highway at Marlborough and follow the Marlborough - Sarina (old Bruce Highway) Road to Sarina.
This diversion is only open to vehicles under 19m long. B-double configurations are not permitted.
Extreme care and significantly reduced speeds are recommended on the Marlborough - Sarina Road.
Expect traffic control on the Sarina Range within the next hour.
BREAKING 8.30am: Police are currently heading to the scene of a serious traffic crash on the Bruce Highway at Ilbilbie.
Two trucks, one a fuel tanker, collided at around 7.45am, about 4.3km south of the Ilbilbie service station, 260km north of Rockhampton.
Initial reports suggest one person has died.
Police said the highway was likely to be closed for some time.
Please advise motorists to avoid the area if possible.
