EMU Park SLSC recently competed at the Junior Wide Bay Capricorn Branch Championships with an extremely strong group of nippers.

Junior activities co-ordinator Darrin Spark said every club member performed to their best, with the majority achieving a medal.

Team manager John Quinn said it was fantastic to see 52 competitors at Moore Park, with some competing in their first branch championships.

The under-eights were enthusiastic, with many enjoying the level of competition from nippers from Hervey Bay to Yeppoon.

Matt Hebbard and Ellen Little took out the under-14 iron races, while Mason Hebbard and Matilda Phelan also picked up gold.

Jacob Spark and Ethan Murphy picked up silver and bronze respectively in the under-12 ironman. Sam Tollasepp, Mason Hebbard, Luke Quinn and Mathew Richardson took gold in the under-12 surf team swim.

Jade Hooper brought home one of many gold medals in the surf swim.

Under-12 Kyle Cook got gold in the beach sprints and the under-eight team of Brendan Clark, Chloe Hooton, Grier McRae and Jemma Campbell took gold in the relay.

To top the beach events, Will Morrison and Dayne Careless picked up silver and gold in the beach flags.

In the under-nine female board, Brittany Hooton and Jade Hooper were a double act of gold and silver.

Club president Neville Bowles was impressed with the club achieving third overall.
