Thunderstorms bring heavy rain to CQ

LAST night severe thunderstorms swept through Central Queensland bringing heavy rainfall, with South Rockhampton recording 36mm in just 90 minutes.

Emerald and Westwood also recorded heavy falls with 39mm and 51mm respectively.

More storms are expected this afternoon and evening.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology this could cause destructive winds (100kph)  and flash flooding (100mm inside 40-60 minutes) to isolated areas, mainly around the central part of Central Queensland, moving north into the the Central Coast and North Coalfields.
