SUNBRIX Australia is not shutting up shop, rather expanding into the mining industry, manager Dean Anderson said yesterday.

Mr Anderson expanded on an announcement in yesterday's Morning Bulletin, in a paid advertisement, which said the Bouldercombe worksite would close down by the end of May.

"We are not going broke, we are just changing direction," Mr Anderson said.

He said the site had been winding down for the past two years and there was only him and one other employee, Warren Kylie, still working there.

"There were five employees two years ago.

"The decision was made this month to expand into mining because that's where it's booming," Mr Anderson said.

The company's focus will turn to its sister, earthmoving company, Yarraboldy, based at the same site at Bouldercombe, which operates in the mining sector.

The Sunbrix industrial site on the Burnett Hwy will be leased out once the briquette plant has been decommissioned.
