$1 billion in clean tech funding

MORE than 1800 manufacturers have registered to attend information sessions for the $1 billion Clean Technology Investment programs.

The $800 million Clean Technology Investment Program and the $200 million Clean Technology Food and Foundries Investment Program offer assistance to businesses to invest in energy efficient capital equipment and low emissions technologies, processes and products.

The Minister for Industry and Innovation, Greg Combet, said the level of interest in the programs from businesses was very encouraging.

"The Clean Technology Investment Programs will help individual manufacturers to strengthen the future of the industry and reduce their carbon emissions," Mr Combet said.

"The programs will support manufacturers to become more energy efficient, more competitive and more sustainable.

"Already more than 1800 businesses have registered for information sessions around the country - including over 390 for today's sessions in Sydney."

Information sessions will continue in coming weeks within capital cities. Additional sessions will also be held in regional centers across the country over the coming months.

The Clean Technology Investment Programs aim to support projects such as switching to less carbon intensive energy sources or installing new manufacturing equipment, processes and facilities to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.

For more information or to register for information sessions visit www.ausindustry.gov.au or call the AusIndustry Hotline on 13 28 46.
