VIDEO: Drugs seized by police as Gracemere homes raided

UPDATE 2.15PM: Sergeant Anthony Houston, Officer in Charge of Gracemere Station expects more people could be charged with drug-related offences after 13 search warrants were executed across Gracemere this morning. 

 

 

Sgt Houston said the 17 people charged as a result of Operation 'Wingspread' would appear before Rockhampton Magistrates Court between January 8 and 20. 

He said police had seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and drug utensils during the searches. 

"Drugs of any type are a scourge on society," he said.

"I want to reassure the public that all police are committed and vigilant and trained to apprehend any persons who are pushing drugs on our streets.

"There are a number of further enquiries we have to make with people as a result of today's search warrants."

11.15AM: CAPRICORNIA police have charged 17 people with 48 drug and weapon offences following the closure of Operation 'Wingspread' in Gracemere today. 

The operation was conducted by officers from Gracemere and Rockhampton over the past week, with 14 search warrents executed and charges handed down for drug production, supply and possession and weapon offences. 

Of those arrested, a 22-year-old Fairy Bower man was charged with eight drug offences involving amphetamines along with a weapon offence and was remanded custody.

The remaining 16 people will appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court over the coming weeks.

Sergeant Anthony Houston, Officer in Charge of Gracemere Station said the Operation was designed to target the supply and distribution of dangerous drugs in the Gracemere division.

"This operation reinforces that police are determined to continue to work against those who profit from the supply of dangerous drugs in our community," Sgt Houston said. 

Police would like to thank members of the local community who have assisted with information.
