14yo charged with charity theft

11.10am: A 14-year-old male smashed a pane of glass to break into a Lifeline charity store on Ford Street, North Rockhampton, about 4.40am today.

Police said the offender stole $19 worth of sheets and cushions. An off-duty police officer detained the offender and on-duty police got to the scene as quickly as possible, police said.

The juvenile was charged with break-and-enter and theft.
