15yo critical after crash

A 15-year-old girl was last night in a critical condition in Townsville Hospital following a single vehicle crash on the Peak Downs Highway at Moranbah yesterday afternoon.

Around 3.15pm, the girl was a rear passenger in a vehicle travelling east along the highway that left the road surface and subsequently rolled a number of times.

The girl is believed to have head and internal injuries as a result.

A 17-year-old female, the front passenger, was also in a serious condition at the Mackay Hospital with a suspected broken arm as well as abrasions, cuts and bruises

The 19-year-old female driver of the vehicle was transported to Moranbah Hospital for treatment to minor abrasions and bruises.

All three are Moranbah residents.

An officer from the Forensic Crash Unit attended and police investigations are continuing.
