18-year-old killed in car roll over near Springsure
February 20, 11am: A CAPELLA teen was fatally injured when a Nissan four-wheel drive utility crashed near Springsure on Sunday morning.
Eighteen-year-old Max Booth and a companion were travelling east on the Dawson Developmental Rd, about 42km west of Springsure, when the vehicle rolled about 5.30am.
The pair was returning from a party at Treswell.
His passenger raced to a nearby homestead to raise the alarm, but the teenager, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
Tributes flowed in for Max on Facebook earlier this week.
"R.I.P Maxy! I watched you grow...into the remarkable young man you became," one friend posted.
February 18 UPDATE 8AM: Police have not released the name of the deceased, but he is believed to be a young Capella man.
Tributes for the young man were flowing on Facebook yesterday, with many people describing him as a great friend and "one of the happiest people I know".
It is believed the man was working in Emerald.
BREAKING 1PM: A man has died and another man has suffered injuries after a single vehicle traffic crash west of Springsure this morning.
Around 5.15am the vehicle was travelling east along the Dawson Development Road, around 46kms west of the Springsure Township, when it left the road and rolled.
The 18-year-old driver died at the scene.
An 18-year-old passenger was treated for minor injuries and transported to the Springsure Hospital for treatment.
Investigations are continuing.
