$23,000 sewerage upgrade

FITZROY River Water has finished installing a new $23,000 switchboard at Jardine Park to improve the reliability and safety of the region's sewerage infrastructure.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council’s Water Committee, Cr Greg Belz said the Jardine Park Switchboard was responsible for pumping all the sewerage from West Rockhampton to the West Rockhampton Sewerage Treatment Plant, and had equipment which required upgrading to ensure reliable performance.

“The upgrade of the switchboard means that there is alternative power source for continued operation in the event of electricity supply interruption and this upgrade is current best practice,” Cr Belz said.

“This upgrade will improve the reliability and safety of FRW’s sewerage infrastructure and is a real benefit to the people of West Rockhampton,” he said.

Cr Belz said the FRW team was strongly focused to find every way to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and responsibly reduce the environmental impact of water and sewerage services across the Rockhampton Region.
