$250,000 boost for new owners

RON Sestero and Kath Mills were happy to move into their new four-bedroom home just before Christmas.

Now they feel as if all their Christmases have come at once after winning $250,000 in a cashback promotion from Queensland home builder GJ Gardner Homes.

Throughout 2011, GJ Gardner Homes offered its new home buyers the chance to win back the price of their home with a $250,000 cashback prize open to anyone who built a home or signed a contract to build.

GJ Gardner Homes sales and marketing manager Ross McNeil said the promotion generated a lot of interest around the state and was designed to reward one lucky customer in a very big way.

"Our customers recognised that there was a great chance of winning because of the limited number of people in the draw," he said.

"So there has been a lot of excitement building up to this event.

"There were only about 320 entrants, and Ron and Kath were automatically entered into the draw. It was great odds."

Ron and Kath will spend their prizemoney on landscaping and decorating their new home, which was built by local builder Trevor Simpson, of GJ Gardner Homes Yeppoon, and they are more than happy with the result.

"There was a basic design and we worked with Trevor and tweaked it to what we would like, such as the large windows to catch the beautiful breezes," Ron said.

Trevor said it was a definitely a pleasure building the home for the couple.
