What a croc of... no, really, there's a croc in the Fitzroy

RESIDENTS near Rockhampton's Fitzroy River Barrage had their cameras out in full force after a 3m-long crocodile was spotted sunbaking on the fish ladder this morning.

A resident, who spotted the crocodile below his house on the fish ramp, watched the elusive croc play dead while white heron's circled their unwanted friend.

The resident told The Morning Bulletin that teenagers, no older looking than 15, were fishing where the croc stood.

He says it is the second time he has seen a crocodile on the river in the eight years he has lived along the river.

The first time he saw a crocodile on the river was in 2011 after the Queensland floods, it was about six metres from his house.

See Monday's Morning Bulletin for the full report.
