Nambour State College was the place to be on Wednesday night when senior students let their hair down for their memorable Year 12 formal.

The graduating class danced up a storm and celebrated all their years of hard work before their last day of school on Friday.

Year 12 co-ordinator Julie Phelan said the students were looking forward to the major event after finishing all their end of year exams.

"We're very lucky that it's later in the year and we can even dance," she said.

"It's very exciting."

Ms Phelan said it was the 11th formal event she had organised and was especially proud of the teenagers for dealing with the unprecedented year.

"There's been a big change in the kids over the years but it's always really exciting to see another group go through," she said.

"They've had the new external exam system, the new ATAR system, the pandemic, so they've been through it all.

"They've been quite resilient and come out the other end unscathed."
