72-year-old man airlifted to hospital following quad crash

RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service transported a 72-year-old man from Derry Vale Station, via Yaamba following a quad bike crash around 9.30am today.

The man who was mustering cattle on a quad bike suffered facial lacerations and possible arm and back injuries when he fell from the bike.

It is believed that he was herding a bull back to the mob when he collided with the animal coming off second best.

Prior to the helicopter arriving on scene a QAS paramedic had provided initial treatment to the man.

Once the helicopter arrived on scene the Inflight Intensive Care Paramedic and Inflight Doctor assessed then stabalised the patient before he was transported to Rockhampton for further treatment.
