Yeppoon clean sweep earns Harrup Shield victory

FROM THE CAPRICORN COAST MIRROR

A CLEAN sweep of wins across the board has earned victory for the Yeppoon Bowls Club men's representative side in the annual Fred Harrup Shield competition.

The dominant showing by the seven local players was completed over the weekend of August 9-10.

The Fred Harrup Shield is contested by all clubs in the Central Queensland District and requires each to enter teams in the three categories of singles, pairs and fours.

The Yeppoon players were singles Dave Bent and pairs Roy Graf and John Martin.

Fours consisted of Trevor Higgins, Greg Kinnear, Ian Lenham and Bryan Churstain.

Each won all five of their games to register a comprehensive win.

The outstanding performance in the Fred Harrup Shield, combined with their previous win in the Classic Challenge, means Yeppoon's men's representative sides have now won both major inter-club events this year.
