Entertainer crushed under wayward bus
A MAN who may have been a Sydney sketch artist was killed by a bus which drove into a restaurant in inner city Haymarket on Sunday.
The bus lurched into a crowd on the footpath near a restaurant on Hay Street at about noon on Sunday.
Witnesses told Fairfax Media the bus slowly veered off the road and then ran over the man, believed to be a sketch artist working on the footpath.
Police, who have cordoned the area off, reported witnesses saying the man was hit by the bus and became trapped beneath it.
A brief will be prepared for the coroner, while police and forensic experts began investigating the circumstances surrounding the death on Sunday afternoon.
The death was the latest in a string of similar pedestrian deaths in Sydney.
