QUEENSLAND Premier Campbell Newman said despite Federal Treasurer Joe Hockey dangling an incentive in front of the states to privatise assets his position was firm and had not changed.
Mr Newman took to the airwaves in Brisbane on Thursday (Nov 28) to once again reaffirm the State Government's position in relation to asset sales.
"This State Government has not privatised any government-owned corporations," he said.
"We have already ruled out selling Energex, Ergon and Powerlink.
"We would only sell government-owned corporations after taking it to an election."
Mr Newman said his commitment was firm in that regard despite claims from the unions to the contrary.
"That is our commitment and, by the way, contrary to what the Queensland Nurses Union keep saying we are not selling hospitals," he said.
"We are totally committed to a free public hospital system in this state.
"So the new Sunshine Coast Hospital will be a free public hospital service.
"People will not have to pay to go and see the doctor there or go for the operation."
