Police investigating suspicious north Rockhamptoon blaze

UPDATE 2.30pm:

POLICE are still investigating the fire to the old vacant WIN News office on Dean Street at around 10.30pm last Friday night.

Forensics have visited the site and taken samples but have not yet determined the cause of the internal blaze.

Police are still treating the incident as suspicious after a quarter of the building sustained damage. Fortunately no one was injured as a result of the fire.

Today there was no visible sign of a fire on the outside of the building, but it had been extensively abused via graffiti and various damage.

Witnesses were scarce due to the lateness of the incident and neighbours across the road on Dean St said they were the last on scene that night due to their windows shut.

They said they had not heard anything until the fire engine sirens alerted them, by then Dean Street residents were outside their houses looking at the commotion.

Police asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around 10.30pm to contact Crime Stoppers.
