New doc for Blackwater

AFTER a two-year wait, Blackwater Health Care Centre has another doctor at its practice to get the new year off to a healthy start.

Doctor Vinay Timothy started at the centre in the lead-up to Christmas after a long process of interviews and inductions to familiarise himself with the town.

He joins Dr Huda as a general practitioner at the centre, addressing the need for more doctors to be provided in Blackwater.

Having moved from India after a 10-year period working as a general practitioner, Dr Timothy spent the last five years working in Melbourne in a variety of roles.

He was looking for a change, and found a high demand for more doctors in Queensland.

"We came to a list with Blackwater at the top, and we found the town very receptive, warm and co-operative, and at the same time, they had the need for another doctor, and were very positive," he said.
