A KEY meeting between Pakistan's Prime Minister Afghan President Hamid Karzai could lead to a deal between the Afghanistan Government and the Taliban.
Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif said after the Saturday meeting that he had reached an agreement with President Karzai to continue peace talks.
The talks will reportedly include senior members of the Taliban, after the release last year of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, a former Taliban leader.
While comments from both Afghan and Pakistani leaders were scant, the meeting may lead to a more formal peace process.
Both nations have been fighting Taliban insurgency on either side of the border, with the release of Baradar seen as a crucial step in the diplomatic process.
