Police investigating ultralight crash on North Stradbroke
POLICE are still investigating what caused a light plane to crash near North Stradbroke Island on the weekend killing the pilot.
The pilot, 60 year-old James Marsden, died when his ultra light plane crashed into the ocean about 100 metres from the island on Saturday.
Mr Marsden took off from Dunwich on the island about 10am on Saturday, before crashing later that morning around 11.30am.
Queensland Police attended the scene on Sunday, examining the wreckage in search of clues as to what may have caused the crash.
Acting Police Superintendent Steve Dabnitt told ABC they had interviewed three witnesses, but were encouraging anyone who knew more to contact Crimestoppers.
