Police target disqualified drivers in courtroom sting

A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been stopped as he tried to drive after having his licence disqualified in court.

Police yesterday refused to release details of an operation targeting drivers who disobeyed their court-ordered disqualifications.

The man had his licence disqualified for one month and was fined $300 after appearing in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday morning for a previous offence of driving while suspended.

A motorcycle police officer then stopped him as he went to drive away from a Neil St carpark.

The car he was driving was impounded as a result of the offence.

An officer from the Toowoomba Road Policing Unit said he could not comment on the operation.
