WHILE Premier Campbell Newman enjoyed the LNP State Council, he wasn't impressed by the name of the facility where the event was held.

The Robert Schwarten Pavilion, named after the Labor stalwart and long-time Rockhampton MP, at the Rockhampton Showgrounds, hosted Queensland federal and state LNP MPs over the weekend.

 

But Mr Newman said on Saturday that he was disappointed so many facilities in the beef capital bore Mr Schwarten's name.

"It's somewhat of an irony that there's so much around here that seems to bear his name when he has got the ultimate negative accolade, which is to waste $1.2billion of taxpayer funds on the failed health payroll system," he said.

"On a payroll system which has seen people underpaid and overpaid."

The Morning Bulletin was unable to contact Mr Schwarten yesterday.
