Yvette D’Ath will seek pre-selection for Labor in Redcliffe
FORMER federal Labor politician Yvette D'Ath has confirmed she will seek pre-selection in the vacant Queensland seat of Redcliffe.
Ms D'Ath was the Federal Member for Petrie, which takes in parts of Redcliffe, until being ousted at the recent Federal Election.
She hit the headlines earlier this year for her "mind blank" blunder at a community cabinet meeting in Rockhampton when she made an embarrassing gaffe about one of the ministers she was supposed to be assisting.
Ms D'Ath was the parliamentary secretary for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation when she wrongly named who the Industry, Innovation, Science, Research and Tertiary Education Minister was at the time.
The Redcliffe by-election is expected to be held in early February following the resignation last week of disgraced MP Scott Driscoll.
Mr Driscoll won the seat with a 10% margin at the 2012 state election.
The Liberal National Party has yet to name a candidate for the seat.
