A $1m Westpac move? You can bank on it

A NEW refurbished location for Westpac Bank's Rockhampton branch is a reason to smile for Chris Stasch.

The company announced this week Rockhampton would benefit from a $1 million-plus commitment as part of a new investment program in its regional and rural branch network.

The program will see Westpac spend $40 million on upgrading its regional outlets across Australia to new state-of-the art Bank Now branches.

The new changes which include an open-plan office layout are to come to town later this year to the bank's new office at 23 Denham St.

The branch will move from the corner of Quay and Denham sts.

Ms Stasch, the bank manager at Westpac Rockhampton, said the branch had been a vital part of the Rockhampton community since it was first established.

"After this investment we will have one of the most modern branches in the country," Ms Stasch said.

"The Bank Now upgrade will give us new and improved technical capabilities for both customers and staff. Our Smart ATMs will be available 24 hours, which means customers can deposit cash, cheques and coins and withdraw and exchange notes and coins at any time of the day.

The re-vamped branch will be among 680 Westpac branches changing shape.
