Gary Ablett’s time with the Gold Coast Suns not about to end

IT APPEARS as though superstar Gary Ablett will play out his career on the Gold Coast after reportedly being offered a $2 million contract extension.

The new deal would mean Ablett (pictured) would stay in Queensland until 2017 when he would be 33.

There has been no confirmation from the Suns, but reports suggest the two-time Brownlow Medal winner has been offered more than $1m a year and is expected to sign early in 2015.

Ablett missed the Suns' final seven games of last season after dislocating his shoulder in round 16. His absence saw the Gold Coast slip away after appearing a chance to make the finals for the first time in its history.

The club later sacked coach Guy McKenna with Rodney Eade replacing him.

A two-time premiership player with Geelong, Ablett is out of contract in 2015 and a number of clubs, including the Cats, would be interested in securing his signature.
