Cars collide at intersection

ONE car is a write-off and the other a possible write-off after two cars collided at a Rockhampton intersection at lunchtime yesterday.

A female passenger in her early 20s, from one of the vehicles, was taken to Rockhampton Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the corner of Campbell and Denham Sts about 12.40pm.

A police officer at the scene said a Mazda 6, driven by a man in his 50s, had failed to give way at a stop sign as a Charade was travelling along Denham St.

Witnesses at the scene said accidents were common at the intersectiondue to visibility issues at the junction.

"It needs a roundabout," one person said.
