All day: Towers of Tomorrow with Lego bricks is a travelling exhibition from Sydney Living Museums and has models of iconic global buildings.

There's also an opportunity to get hands-on with more than 200,000 loose Lego bricks ready to be shaped by your imagination.

The daily session times are 10.30-11am, 1-2.30pm, 2.30-4pm and 4-5.30pm at the Rockhampton Art Gallery. Cost is $5, concession $3.

10-11.30am: Do you love books and reading? Are you a bit of a literary guru?

Come along to the Lively Literary Trivia event Romance Reads at the North Rockhampton Library and have fun answering lots of questions about books.

Gather together a team of six or make new friends on the day.

10-11am: Introduce your child to the wonderful world of books and stories through imaginative play, drama, song, dance and fingerplays.

Learn some simple tips for early literacy development with the First Five Forever initiative.

Lively Rhyme Time will take place at the North Rockhampton Library, Mount Morgan Library and Gracemere Community Hall.

6pm: Round two of the Young Guns rodeo series is at the Great Western Hotel, with action kicking off at 7.30pm. Gates open from 6pm.

Ticket prices: adult $20, child aged five to 16 years $10, under-fives enter free, family pass (two and two) $50.

7pm: Do you dream of treading the boards?

It could be realised if you attend the upcoming auditions for The Importance of Being Earnest, being held at Yeppoon Little Theatre (64 William St) today and tomorrow at 7pm.

Come along with your best English accent for your chance to be involved in this exciting and hilarious production.

7.30pm: Think you're funny? Get together five minutes of your best jokes and show us what you can do.

This free event provides stage time and career development to Rocky residents who'd like to try their hand at stand-up comedy. It's also a great free night out with entertainment by our undiscovered local talent.

SATURDAY

10am-noon: Bring your tissues as we screen a selection of classic romantic movies in the lead-up to Library Lovers' Day.

All movies will be shown in the Fitzroy Room at the Rockhampton Regional Library. The movie will be Doctor Zhivago (1965).

1-3pm: Rockhampton Regional Council presents free weekly art workshops at the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens from 1-3pm every Saturday. Recommended for ages four-plus. Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, 100 Spencer St, The Range 4700.

8am-noon: The Arcade Car Park Markets are being held in Bolsolver St, Rockhampton.

9am-1pm: During January the tram is not operating at the Archer Park Rail Museum, but today the museum offers section car rides instead.

Open 9am-1pm on Denison St. Bring the family along to look through the carriages and steam and diesel engines, change the train signals, see the Morse code table and lots more.

You can also enjoy a morning tea in the Refreshment Room.

9am-1.30pm: In its ninth year, the Sport and Health Expo is a community event organised by Rockhampton Regional Council that aims to encourage the Rockhampton region community to get involved in physical activity, healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.

It is a holistic initiative for all ages aimed at boosting the awareness of sport, recreation and health activities within the region from grassroots to masters.

This year, the event will take place in the Robert Schwarten Pavilions at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
