Activists stage anti-war protest

ANTI-WAR activists Graeme Dunstan and Bryan Law protested yesterday outside Rockhampton’s Western Street Army Barracks.

The two spoke about Serco Sodexo Defence Services (SSDS) – formed in 1993 between the two service organisations, Serco and Sodexo.

“(They) are global corporations which in return for taxpayer dollars provides management services for army barracks, refugee detention centres, prisons and the like,” Graeme said.

“Serco Sodexo Defence Services holds the service contract for the Talisman Sabre war games and it is the newest member of Capricorn Tourism and Economic Development Ltd.”

Army officials guarded the entrance of the barracks as Graeme revealed a new slogan on his Peacebus which read: “War brings neither peace nor climate justice. Cut military spending!”
