Adam sets high run goals
ROCKHAMPTON assistant property valuer Adam Bray is stepping up his training regime for what will be the biggest run of his life so far.
It’s a 12-week build- up for Adam’s training regime, as he’ll be attempting the 21km half-marathon for this year’s Rockhampton Rotary Club’s Stanwell Power Station Rocky River Run.
After joining Rockhampton Road Runners in 2009, Adam has seen his fitness levels rise considerably, and this year he will take on his biggest “marathon” run yet.
“I’m really looking forward to it, the training regime is great and hopefully I will reach my goal of completing the marathon,” he said.
“My goal is to complete it under three hours.”
Ten kilometres is the longest run Adam’s accomplished in competition, but he says he’s always up for a challenge and with his friends and colleagues running also.
It’s a great atmosphere for fitness fanatics at any level.
Each week the regime escalates in time of training, beginning from 20-minute easy jogs to two-hour runs.
Adam said it was very beneficial to your muscle building and stamina: “Interval training with sprinting and jog recovery is what I’m trying to do at the moment to try and prepare myself for the marathon in June.”
And with runners of any fitness level welcome, even those who don’t regularly exercise, it’s a great place to start a healthy lifestyle.
“I encourage those who don’t consider themselves fit to just get out there and give it a go,” Adam said.
“When I first started I wasn’t fit. So it goes to show that persistence pays off.”
