Adam Brand admits he's still a hopeless dancer

IT’S an undisputed fact that Adam Brand’s dance moves aren’t what make him popular with the ladies.

The Australian country singer is still dating his dance teacher girlfriend Jade Hunter, whom he partnered on prime-time celebrity dance show Dancing With The Stars.

But when Adam spoke with The Morning Bulletin recently, he admitted there was no way Jade was drawn to him by his smooth moves.

He has been announced as the headline act for the Rockhampton New Year’s Eve festival.

And he’s bringing his new girlfriend back to Rockhampton with him.

The last time Adam was in Rockhampton was for a show at the Great Western Hotel with Jimmy Barnes.

That performance was one week into Adam’s DWTS filming and he brought Jade with him to train over the weekend.

Months later, and despite winning the dance-off, he confesses that when it comes to dancing he’s less than perfect.

“Everyone expects you to be able to all of a sudden pull off a brilliant dance routine.

“But I’m still as dodgy as ever.

“I can pull off a couple of little moves that I learnt, but without a partner to drag you through it, you just don’t train.”

When he gets on stage on New Year’s Eve, Brand said party folk could anticipate a move or two that he learnt during his gig on DWTS.

“I might convince Jade to get up on stage, too,” he said.

As renowned as the Rockhampton New Year’s festival is, Adam admits he hasn’t been to one yet.

“I’ve heard all about it. It’s quite infamous,” he said.

“I haven’t done many New Year’s Eve gigs and I’m actually really excited about this.”

As soon as he was offered the Rockhampton job, Adam said, he couldn’t resist.

“It’s just a great town. I’ve played there a lot over the years and always had a good time.

“The crowds are very rowdy.

“It’s great and I love playing in Rocky.”

New Year’s Eve might be the last time you see Adam perform in Australia for a long time.

It will no doubt be his last Rockhampton show before he moves to America in February.

The artist has secured a record deal with Sony and is going to spend most of 2010 touring the US and recording his first American release.

“It’s very exciting ... it’s going to be a big year next year.

“I’m not exactly sure how it’s going to go, but I’m going to have a red hot go!”

For Christmas Adam is spending time in Sydney with Jade’s family before the two start organising a Bonnie and Clyde outfit for New Year’s Eve.

“I would say that this New Year’s Eve is going to end up one of those I’m going to talk about in the future.”
