Adani, Aurizon, QR contractors expected to sign leases

BY NEXT month up to 12 Bowen properties will have been leased to Adani, Queensland Rail and Aurizon contractors, a Century 21 Bowen spokesperson believes.

She said the companies had been looking at units, town houses and houses for their workers for the past couple of weeks.

While nothing had been signed yet, she said 10-12 properties were likely to be leased by late February and early March, which was expected to inject a jolt of confidence into the town.

The new residents are likely to be in town to facilitate the start-up of the Carmichael coal project, which is expected later this year, and the construction of the rail line that will connect the mine to the coal port of Abbot Point, north of Bowen.

An Adani spokesman declined to comment.

Aurizon and Queensland Rail has been contacted for comment.

More to come.
