AFP to investigate death threats against Muslim MP

FEDERAL Labor MP Anne Aly says she has been the target of racially motivated death threats and the Australian Federal Police has confirmed it is investigating the matter. 

SBS News has published screenshots of the threats which were made both via email and on Facebook. 

"Your a worthless cancer on this country you and your Koran can f%^k off the sooner your (sic) dead the better this place will be. ALL MUSLIMS WILL DIE." one of the posts read, 

"Wouldn't it be lovely if you were out of a job Anne and the world was at peace," another read. 

Ms Aly said the number of comments like this she received spiked after Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said it had been a mistake to let Lebanese-Muslims immigrate to Australia. 

"The advice I have is that out of the last 33 people who have been charged with terrorist-related offences in this country, 22 of those people are from second and third generation Lebanese-Muslim background," Mr Dutton said on Monday under repeated questioning from Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.
