Agents brace for big 2014 in Rockhampton real estate market
DESPITE a drop in sales during the last quarter of 2013, Rockhampton region agents are gearing up for a "bumper year" ahead.
According to figures from RP Data, there were more than 240 houses and units sold in the post code areas 4700 and 4701 between October and December.
In the previous quarter, between July and September, 368 houses and units were sold.
The numbers may have dropped, but Ray White Rockhampton City sales agent Trent Neven said this was often the case due to the Christmas holiday season.
"There's not a huge amount of movement in that time," he said.
"But right up until Christmas Eve we were receiving calls and then as soon as we were back in the office on January 2 it started back up again."
Pending settlements from December may have also been omitted from the data.
Data revealed that the average price for a house in Rockhampton remained stable throughout the year sitting at about $320,000.
"Prices have not fluctuated," Mr Neven said.
"There's been a lot more buyers around too. Our open house numbers and inquiries have been really good."
Mr Neven said the market conditions were expected to remain the same this year, if not improve.
"I think we're in for a bumper year," he said.
"Rockhampton has always been a very stable market."
