Air dash after miner hurt

A 53-YEAR-old mining contractor was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital on Sunday after he suffered multiple fractures to his pelvis and one of his legs while working at Bundoora Mine near Middlemount.

Anglo Coal Australia regional manager of external affairs Aldo Pennini said the man was currently undergoing treatment but was now in a stable condition.

“His family was notified straight away,” Mr Pennini said.

“A preliminary investigation has taken place but there is a more detailed investigation being undertaken by Anglo Coal. More details will come to hand as that is undertaken.

“ACA is treating the incident very seriously,” he said.

The man is a contractor of Delta SBD.

Delta SBD chief executive officer Steve Bizzaca said the man was part of a team working on section extensions at Bundoora Mine.

“He operated machinery and did minor type duties,” Mr Bizzaca said.
