Ambo stood down over drug theft
A VICTORIAN ambulance employee has been stood down after a report in The Age on Tuesday revealed incredibly potent drugs had been stolen from ambulances and replaced with tap water.
Fentanyl is a highly-addictive liquid pain killer reportedly 100 times more powerful than morphine.
In a report on Tuesday, the Melbourne newspaper revealed hundreds of vials of Fentanyl had either vanished or been tampered with.
An investigation by Victoria Police has already led to one employee standing down, although it is unclear whether they were a station or ambulance officer.
Ambulance Victoria will now introduce tamper-proof packaging for all Fentanyl from Tuesday night.
