Angelene set to take on the galaxy quest

AS IF studying a teaching degree and working as a hairdresser were not enough commitments for Angelene Ward, the Mooloolaba beauty has also been named Miss Mooloolaba in the 2016 Miss Galaxy Australia pageant.

The opportunity to raise money for both the Make a Wish Foundation Australia and Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors fit perfectly with Ms Ward, who is an avid animal lover and wants to work with children.

Although she has entered a few modelling competitions on the Coast, this will be the first pageant Ms Ward has set her mind to.

Her acceptance as a 2016 state finalist has come during a busy time.

University will kick into high gear this month and Ms Ward is also completing a hairdressing apprenticeship in Noosa.

The Mooloolaba resident received her Miss Galaxy sash a few weeks ago and has six months to make an impression while raising both awareness and funds for the two charities.

With the backing of Red Velvet Makeup Artistry, the 20-year-old is determined to make it into the top two fundraisers.

Not only would this guarantee her a position in the final judging round, to be held on the Gold Coast in June, but Ms Ward said it would also be personally rewarding.

"The biggest challenge would be showing your confidence and your personality while helping your community out," she said.

"For me, this is mainly about raising awareness and helping the two charities out."
