Granddaughter 'physically punished' by stranger
TO the senior citizen who took it upon herself to discipline my granddaughter on Thursday, January 30 at 11.45am in Sams Warehouse at the Harvey Norman Centre.
I hope that on reflection you are ashamed of the physical punishment you took upon yourself to administer to my granddaughter.
It is totally unacceptable behaviour no matter your opinion of the child's behaviour.
Her mother was present with her at the time and she is the one you should have taken your problem to; she has worked in childcare for many years and is quite capable of applying suitable discipline.

My granddaughter is a child with Down Syndrome and as such does not comprehend misbehaviour in the same manner as most children.
She most likely thought she was playing a game with you and does not understand your frustration.

She is a beautiful, well-mannered child who is a credit to the care and effort her mother has provided in her life.
She has a hard enough road ahead of her in life and does not need negative people such as you undermining the confidence her family is trying to instil in her.
